Press Release Body = New York, 2-23-2006- Immediate release.
Many Taxpayers fear an IRS audit. I can give you some tips on avoiding an IRS audit. These tips sometimes are common sense, yet people fail to follow them.
Without any further delay here are some of the tips that you can use when you file your tax return. Do not understate your income. Specially if most of your income is in all cash. For example, if your income is derived from tips, cash commissions, etc. Be sure to state your true income on your return. Hint: If you drive a relatively new car yet you declare only $2000 in income, chances are you will be noticed by the IRS.
Do not claim high charity deductions. If you plan to claim unusually high charity deductions, you should have paper work backing up your deductions. If it was a non cash deduction, have an appraiser report or some other proof that will support your claim. High charity deductions often raise red flags.
Don\'t always claim a deduction just because your tax preparer said it was a good idea. Let me explain. Often times, unscrupulous tax preparers suggest you take advantage of a law that either does not apply to you or does not really exist. Every year IRS gets tax returns that are not correctly filed and end up costing the tax payer alot.
Don\'t make mistakes. Before filing your return, check your return for any mistakes. People often make mistakes when doing the calculations. Also, don\'t forget to check the information that you fill in from your W-2, 1099s, 1908, etc.
